Coralville seeking to expand its reach

Coralville is expanding its annexation request for county land between Coralville and North Liberty to 486.5 acres, including 60 acres from non-consenting owners, the citys county attorney told county officials Thursday.

This new annexation proposal includes Coralvilles original request of 390 Scanlon farmland acres, as well more of the Scanlon family-owned land north of Dubuque Street.

This new proposal is the latest development in the competition between the two cities for the North Corridor land.

North Liberty officials were on hand at the Johnson County Board of Supervisors meeting for the agenda item to discuss their latest annexation proposal more than 954 acres of land with 898.3 acres from consenting landowners.

The Board of Supervisors, although unable to make decisions on either application, has expressed concern about both cities plans because of the size and location of the annexations.
